7 COMMON AND CHEAP LIES SOME TRAVEL AGENT/COMPANY SELLS TO NIGERIANS TO FRAUD THEM OF THEIR MONEY.

LIE#1. WE WILL PROVIDE ALL DOCUMENTS:

Beware of any travel agent/company that promise this kind of service, because most times those ‘provided-documents’ are fake which could lead to visa refusal and atimes ban-punishment of such applicant upon detection at the embassy, as all embassy hates misrepresentation and fake documentation. Note: As an applicant, you are expected to provide some documents while your agent/travel company assists with some documents.

LIE#2. WE ONLY NEED YOUR INTERNATIONAL PASSPORT:

Beware of any Travel agent/company that asks you to drop your international passport with them for submission to the respective embassy; as this is an opportunity for them to stamp your passport with ‘fake-visa’ (‘oluwole-visa’). This is a major reason why some Nigerians are refused entrance at the port of entry of some countries, unknowingly due to fake-visa. Note: No Travel agent/company is a representative of any embassy/high commission as every visa-applicant is expected to submit their passport by self at the designated submission centers.

LIE#3. WE HAVE LIMITED SLOTS AND WE HAVE LINK TO GET YOUR VISA APPROVED:

There is nothing like a slot/link in visa application, as various embassy/high commissions welcomes limitless number of applications for visa consideration and approvals, in as much applicants can show and demonstrate that they meet the requirements for the visa-type applied for. However a travel agent/company could have a package or approach in presenting your visa-application for increased success rate, but those approaches or packages are not special slots (from the embassy) so to say.

LIE#4. WE HAVE SURE VISA:

Beware from this marketing-trap used by many travel agents/company, as there is nothing like ‘100% sure visa’, I repeat nothing like 100% sure visa. Though many Nigerians desiring for visa always ask for this as an assurance for visa-success. Note: Your Visa approval is not in the ‘final decision’ of your travel agent/company, as Visa approval is at the final discretion of the consular/visa officer treating your file upon meeting the set criteria/requirements of the visa-type applied for at their embassy. However an experienced travel agent/company could leverage on the knowledge of criteria’s/requirements of embassies towards getting a visa approval.

LIE#5. WE HAVE REPRESENTATIVES AND VISA OFFICER IN THAT EMBASSY:

This is another cheap lie that many innocent-ignorant Nigerians fall for, as no Travel agent/company has a special or assigned representative/officer in any embassy or high commission.

LIE#6. THAT ALL VISA ARE THE SAME:

This is due to poor information and ignorance about immigration laws/rules. There are basically different categories of visa’s ranging from Tourist/Visit visa, Study visa, Work-visa, Business Investor visa, Transit visa, Permanent residency visa e.t.c And all visa-type has there restriction and conditions upon landing in different countries, and one immigration status in a foreign country is dependent on the visa type on your passport. (Well many Nigerians do not really mind, inasmuch they have gotten ‘a visa’ and can now travel-out of Nigeria). But the effect of their “immigration status (depending on the visa type)” gets to them after arriving in their country of destination. Although the Immigration laws of some countries are flexible and give room to file for an upgrade of one’s immigration status with time after getting to those country by following some due processing afterwards.

LIE#7. WE ARE THE ONE ‘PROCESSING’ YOUR VISA:

This is another big fraudulent misconception used to dupe Nigerians by some Travel agent/company. They say things like; we’ll process your visa for you. Note: What a Travel agent/company could do for you are visa advisory services/counseling, visa filing and application, proper visa documentations. But Visa processing is entirely done and carried-out by the consular/visa officer at the high commission/embassy involved.

REVERSAL:

This article is not with the intention to tackle any named travel agent/company, but in the best interest to protect fellow Nigerians from falling preys/victim of the above common-cheap lies and misconception about visa procurement. Moreover, you’ll need the professional service, expertise, experience and consultation of a travel company or Immigration consultant/Immigration lawyer in getting your visa approved( especially when you don’t have the required experience and knowledge in visa procurement, as ’little-mistakes’ causes visa refusal) ;but you need to be careful in choosing one. As the role and impact of a professional and honest Travel company cannot be underestimated towards a successful visa approval.
